Stockport town centre businesses are losing customers to other towns and
shopping areas; we want to reverse this trend. A BID will enable Stockport to
compete with its neighbours and become the key business, shopping and leisure
destination in the region. |

BID Proposal 2017 - 2022
A BID will create a single identity and
marketing platform for Stockport. The BID website will tell consumers everything that is going on in the town centre and become the go-to resource for local residents, workers and visitors for information on events, promotions and the many attractions that the town has to offer. The BID will promote the town centre to a wider audience to attract new visitors and
businesses to come and locate here. |

Vision Stockport wants to investigate the potential for a BID in the town centre to improve trading conditions, for example by physical improvements and by holding events and more marketing. They want to see if businesses themselves are keen on this model. Following this survey Vision Stockport wants to establish a Steering Group with local businesses to develop the concept further to make Stockport Town Centre a better place to work and visit.

Following the announcement of the appointment of external consultants, The Means, Vision Stockport’s aim for Stockport Town Centre to be designated a Business Improvement District (BID) is taking shape.
Please read and download this leaflet that has been designed to explain what a BID is and how it can benefit Stockport. Over the next few weeks The Means will be contacting a sample of the retailers and businesses across the town centre to explain more about the benefits BIDs bring to town centres like Stockport. The leaflet will help to explain what a BID involves, how a BID operates and to find out what businesses think a BID should provide for Stockport town centre. Gathering this information will help Vision Stockport not only identify the key aspirations and concerns of local retailers & businesses but also gauge the potential support for the BID. |
